6 Creative Baby Hacks For Moms
Looking for different life-hacks that will help your child learn and progress while
staying at home? This article is for all those first-time moms out there or moms who have a
toddler and are looking for ways to get their children started with fun activities
while learning. We all know that raising a toddler requires mostly sleepless nights and plenty of
challenges but one smile from your little ones will take away everything.
The circus moments with the students were experienced during face-to-face classes.
It tests teachers' creativity and strategies on how to handle students, especially the
Toddler to Prepper level.
In this blog post, we developed different classroom hacks that you can apply at your
home to have a well-arranged environment for your child.
Here are the suggested life-changing hacks for 1-4 years old that you can use to create wonderful learning
surroundings to teach your child while they are growing up:
WORDY WALL
One type of learner is sight-readers. These kinds of learners are good at memorizing the letters in a word for
them to be able to read it. They also have a skill called photographic memory.
This intervention is an easy way to easily introduce literacy to young children and this life hack was called
wordy wall.
To create a Wordy Wall at your homeyou have to do is to scatter a lot of words by pasting it on a wall or in any place that your child usually
uses or on specific preferably flat objects. It can have additional instructions like on/off, pull/push or a name
for each object like door, chair, table, etc.
This toddler activity at home has many benefits such as it allows children to recognize and spell high
frequency words, identify relationships in words and patterns, build rhyming words and apply phonics rules.
It also supports children’s reading and writing activities.
SHOE RACK WITH COLORED FOOTSTEPS
We all know that toddlers struggle to wear their shoes properly. This baby hack, it will help your child to
place their shoes in a shoe rack properly and identify which are left and right.
How to create this shoe rack with colorful footsteps? Here are the three (3) easy steps:
1. Trace your feet or shoes on colored paper. These feet are mom’s feet, dad’s feet, and your child’s feet.
Then cut it.
2. Write “L” for the left foot and “R” for the right foot. With that, the child can understand symbols that represent a
word and identify letters at the same time.
3. Paste these footsteps on your shoe rack. You can place it based on the arrangement that you prefer.
This activity is a silent way to teach your child to wear their shoes properly, exposing them to sizes and colors,
identify left and right, and be independent.
PLACEMAT WITH NICKNAMES
Placemat with nicknames is a personalized template that is made with cardboard (either oslo paper/vellum board)
with their nickname. It is laminated to prolong the use of the template and be waterproof. It also has a shape or spot
where they can put their plate/snack box, drinks, and spoon.
This placemat can be used during your child’s snack time. Using it is a simple way to help your child to learn proper
plating, identify the letters on their names and be responsible for their food. Placemat symbolizes that they must eat
properly so that their food won't spill or scatter.
During face-to-face classes, our students also know how to clean their placemat by putting the food that spilled in
the trash bin and wiping their placemat after using it.
FLUSH WITH ARROW DOWN
During in-person classes, we prepare our students to be potty-trained. We instruct them that we can excuse them
in the class once they tell us when they are about to pee or poop. With that, the children are aware that peeing and
pooping in the school using the restroom is normal and they don’t have to be shy or laugh when their classmate
asks for it. Part of it is being independent to go to the restroom on their own so that the Lead teacher in the class
will not leave the class but the assistant teacher will just accompany them instead. For them to remember to flush
the toilet on their own when they use it, we put an arrow down beside the “flush button”. This arrow indicates that
they have to flush the toilet before they go.
CUBBY HOLE WITH TOYS PICTURE
Toddlers loved to play and spread their toys then leave. In this activity, your child will become aware of packing
away from their toys after using them. To teach your child to be independent, one of the important lessons that they
have to remember is to clean before you go. To apply this life-changing hack at your home, all you have to do is
put pictures of the toys on each shelf for them to be able to return those toys in a proper place. This picture also
shows the proper position of the toy, if they have to fix or arrange it. In this toddler activity, you are letting your
child do puzzles by putting proper toys in the right picture, introducing cleanliness, and maximize your time as a
parent to do other house chores instead.
FLOOR MARKERS
As a teacher, it is a laborious part to train our students to sit down. When we are having a circle or storytime in the
class, we are sitting on the floor. At first, some students are either crawling, standing, or lying on the floor or all of
them want to sit beside the teacher, besides their friend, or near a cubby hole or specific area. For us to avoid it,
we put shapes, animals, or any characters on the floor to demonstrate which is their spot and remember it. This
activity can be practiced at your home for your child to locate a variety of locations. Putting floor markers will help
your child to trace his/her spot, place things into the same location and develop a sense of ownership.
SNACK BOX
This is one of the most common hacks. We observe since they are too little, their tummy is too small as well but
most of the time they have a lot of food because they want to bring it to school or share food with their classmates.
However, most of the time they can’t finish eating all of it. To lessen it, we are requiring our students to use a snack
box instead. Using a snack box can lessen garbage at the school and keep their food properly at the same time.
All parents are encouraged to let the child use the snack box so that if they can't finish their food during snack time,
they can eat their food again once they feel hungry while waiting for their fetchers. In that way, you are teaching
your child to save food and you are helping yourself to save money.
These life-changing baby hacks are a part of Little Georgia Academy. At a young age, our students are trained to be
free, instill discipline and be responsible. These always amaze moms once they get to see the development of their
child from being a baby at their home into accountable individuals who can stand alone in their own simple ways.
Always remember that having happy kids will lead to a cheerful mom with a convenient life.
